What are the viral skin infections?

Viral infections of the skin are a heterogeneous group of diseases that need to be diagnosed and treated early.

The most common skin viruses and their treatment

Herpes simplex occurs more often on the lips and genitals, is characterized by frequent recurrences and, possibly, asymptomatic transmission. It is most effectively treated with oral therapy.

Shingles has nothing to do with herpes, just the names. Shingles is caused by the chickenpox virus, which “nests” in the body and, in particular, in the sensory ganglia of the nervous system of the area and, when for any reason the body’s defenses are reduced, it flares up and causes pain and the characteristic rash. The pain can be acute or chronic and then it is called postherpetic neuralgia. Oral treatment is definitely needed.

Warts (gills, mandrakes, etc.) and infectious termite are diseases that require the destruction of lesions by various methods, such as laser, cryotherapy, diathermy, etc. Skin viruses include other childhood rashes, such as chickenpox, rubella, infectious erythema, etc., each requiring a different treatment.
