Cosmetic dermatology at the service of anti-aging
Cosmetic dermatology can significantly contribute in maintaining healthy skin and natural youthful appearance with various methods, which are best applied relatively early, ie before the occurrence of visible signs of aging.
What are the signs of aging?
The signs of aging are located especially on the face, so we observe the occurrence of:
- Various types of wrinkles (forehead, middle eyebrows, periocular, nasopharyngeal, tear, smoker’s, sad or puppet mouth, chin), and
- Stretched pores on the facial skin
In general, the following are observed:
- Looseness and thinning of the skin
- Roughness and dryness of the skin as well
- Discoloration. Their treatment includes the application of special whitening lotions and creams, as well as the application of special laser beams. Hand and forehead discoloration is mainly treated with laser.
Also, improving cellulite and maintaining healthy and thick hair can significantly improve our appearance and make us look younger.
Therapeutic methods for the treatment of aging
Usually a combination of different therapeutic methods is required and this combination is always personalized. The treatment is special and unique for each person and depends on many factors, such as age, severity of clinical signs of aging, skin type, general health status and, finally, the lifestyle and expectations of each person for the final result of medical aesthetic interventions.
Dermatology has at its service a wide range of such interventions, which can be applied either individually or in combination.
These services include:
A. The control of external factors that exacerbate skin aging, such as smoking, exposure to ultraviolet radiation (sun, solarium), the chosen diet, exercise-not stress, and mental stress.
B. The application of topical cosmetics or pharmaceutical cosmetics (cosmeceuticals), once or twice a day.
C. The oral intake of eutrophic and anti-aging substances. It should be noted that their consumption in western countries in recent years has increased significantly and is approaching the level of consumption of drugs for chronic diseases such as diabetes and asthma.
D. The various invasive methods for face and body, namely:
1. Peels (chemical and with fruit acids), for the treatment of fine wrinkles, pores, variegation and, in general, the texture and appearance of the skin,
2. The application of phototherapy (pulsed light therapy or photodynamic therapy),
3. The use of radio frequencies to tighten various areas of the skin,
4. Scraping the skin with the use of crystals or laser (fractional laser), to improve roughness, scars and discoloration, especially on the face, but also in other parts of the body,
5. The injection of implants (hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxyapatite, polylactic acid, etc.) to treat deeper facial wrinkles, such as nasopharyngeal wrinkles,
6. injection for the treatment of various types of wrinkles, mainly the eyebrow, forehead, eyelids, but also other types of wrinkles,
7. Mesotherapy with the use of autologous serum with growth factors (PRP), hyaluronic acid or other substances, for a younger and firmer appearance, as well as for the treatment of facial relaxation,
8. The use of threads, for the treatment of wrinkles and relaxation on the face, neck, but also in other parts of the body.
There ate two kinds of threads:
a) support-renewal threads (rejuvenation)
b) lifting threads
9. The injection of fat-soluble substances and the use of ultrasound to treat cellulite,
10. The application of cryolipolysis to reduce the thickness of the abdomen, lower back, thighs, etc., and, finally,
11. The injection of mesenchymal cells in combination with laser.
The results are monitored with special computer evaluation machines.
