What are peels?

Peels (chemical and with fruit acids), are used for the treatment of fine wrinkles, pores, variegation and, in general, for improving the texture and appearance of the skin. By this term, we mean applying a solution on the skin for a few minutes. This solution causes positive changes in the epidermis and the skin layer that lies beneath it and is called dermis.

Peels are classified according to how deeply they damage the skin . Thus, the superficial ones cause destruction of some or all of the layers of the epidermis, the medium depth ones destroy, in addition to the epidermis, part of the upper dermis, and the deep ones reach the middle part of the dermis.

The factors that affect the depth of the damage caused depend on the type of substance to be used, the density of the solution, the time of its application, the phototype of the skin, the preparation of the skin before peeling, the frequency of application of the method and the area of the body to which it is applied. Certain skin layers are destroyed and replaced by newer ones. They get regenerated, resulting in the improvement of its appearance and texture.

Peels achieve regeneration and rearrangement of collagen and elastic fibers in the dermis and make the skin look youthful and radiant by becoming more elastic and firmer.

With the application of peels at regular intervals, long-term therapeutic and aesthetic results are achieved.
