What makes the skin glow?
The external light of the environment diffuses in a way to the skin and gives it a light pink color of freshness and youthful appearance and brightness. These characteristics, in a word, have been called “glow” of the skin. Although what we describe seems simple it is actually a complex mechanism. This mechanism, in fact, is associated with several parameters and factors, and in case their function gets impeded, our skin looks yellowish and dull.
Which mechanism ensures radiant and glowing skin?
90% of the light that reaches the skin penetrates successively to its depth and reaches the inside of the skin. During this process, light is absorbed by the chromophores (molecules that have the ability to absorb light and diffuse it after first coloring it). It is then re-diffused, giving the skin a soft pink hue, which makes it look radiant.
Which are the conditions for the proper functioning of the skin’s glow mechanism?
In order for the process of absorption and diffusion of light, which ensures radiant skin, to work properly:
- the surface of our skin should be smooth and clean. When dry the skin peels off causing inhomogeneous diffusion of light. On the contrary, oily skin, due to the hypersecretion of sebum, causes intense reflections of light and has an insufficient interaction with it.
- the microcirculation of our skin to work ideally to facilitate the meeting of light with red blood cells (chromophores that give red color to light, which plays a key role in the final shade of our skin).
After all, what’s responsible for our dull, pale skin?
Initially, it may be due to the fact that the surface of our skin is not smooth and homogeneous to allow excellent light reflection. According to the latest research, however, the causes can go even deeper! Stress, fatigue, cold air, air pollution, smoking can cause blood vessels to constrict. This has the effect of affecting the proper microcirculation of our skin (one of the two conditions for the proper functioning of its glow mechanism), which eventually looks dull and tired.
Is there a way to regain the lost radiance of our skin?
Recent research in the field of cosmetology for the mechanism of skin radiance, has resulted in the creation of cosmetics that act exactly “at the heart of the problem”. So there is now the appropriate cleansing product and the corresponding moisturizing creams for daily care which keep the skin hydrated for 24 hours, have a composition appropriate to its type (dry or normal / mixed) but also contain (like the cleansing product) an exclusive combination of active ingredients which ensures the good microcirculation of the skin and the good condition of its surface. The two ingredients used for this purpose are:
- Manganese: prevents the contraction of blood vessels by promoting microcirculation of the skin
- Polifructol: activates the natural exfoliation of the skin improving its texture and appearance
Thus, by offering daily special care to our skin through a moisturizing cream that keeps it healthy while ensuring the proper functioning of its glow mechanism, we can fight its dull, pale and tired face and help our skin to have a bright, youthful colour.
Experts advise
To have really beautiful and radiant skin, pay attention:
- in your diet: it should include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, be high in fiber and low in fat. This way you will offer your skin all the vitamins and minerals it needs to be healthy and look radiant.
- in the water you consume: at least 2 liters per day are required for clean skin
- in exercise: it is wrongly considered to benefit only the body. It is also very good on the skin.
- in “bad habits”: smoking and alcohol consumption are not at all skin-friendly habits.
- in the daily care of your skin: that is, in good cleansing and proper hydration and care.
and do not forget that…
- The youthful appearance of the skin is judged not only by its “wrinkled” surface, but also by the uniform, light pink, bright color it should have.
- If you see how much a smooth surface shines in the light and how duller a wild surface looks, it becomes easier to understand that the smoother and cleaner the surface of your skin, the better it reflects light on it.
- It is not enough to have a smooth surface for the surface to be shiny your skin (therefore a superficial exfoliation is not enough). An important role is played by its hue, which results from a complex “natural glow mechanism” that it has, during which light is absorbed and diffused, after first being “colored”. The proper functioning of the skin microcirculation plays an important role in this mechanism, but it can be affected by various factors, such as stress.
- Manganese and Polyfructol are two substances that in combination have been shown by laboratory research to act at the “heart of the problem” and treat the problem of dull and dull skin.
The proposal of the month
Our skin has a “natural source of radiance” that over time can “dry out”! Stress, fatigue, air pollution, smoking and other factors that “conspire” against it contribute to this. In order for the dull and lifeless skin to become radiant again, there must be systematic daily care through which the following will be achieved:
- smoothing the surface of the skin and
- reactivation of the natural glow mechanism
